Extension Design in Glasgow – The Brief
Our clients were looking for architects with experience in heritage homes for their extension design in Glasgow, and chose to work with us at Allison Architects.
The existing house was originally built at the turn of the century, so the design needed to be highly sensitive to the character of the property. It was important that the new extension complemented the original architecture, materials and detailing.
The final design extended the existing kitchen into the small utility room. We then opened up the wall between the kitchen and dining room, before linking through into the rear section of the garage, which was converted to create a new dining area and utility space.
The Design
At the rear of the house, a two-storey gabled extension was designed to reflect and connect with the existing building. Alongside this, a single-storey wraparound extension provides a more contemporary, jewel-like addition to the home.
